Please Test The Comments on this Blog Post

// September 30th, 2009 // Personal

I don’t think I have ever asked the few readers who follow the wife and I to just goof off in our blogs comments before. Well, now I need you to get crazy with it.

I have built a threaded commenting system for a little side project and I need help to see if it works. So, if you are reading this in facebook or somewhere else, please go now to this post and put in something from the English language. The idea of what we built is to have live commenting so other readers on the post can interact in a more timely way.

So, please goof off on this post and say whatever you want (so long as it is family friendly of course).

Someone want to comment on the post and show me how this works?

    • Jason 11:10 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

Dunno, maybe it doesn’t work since no one is commenting. (Scratches head)

      • Jason 11:11 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

Another nested comment to check out the animation.

      • Jason 11:12 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

That looks pretty bad huh? Guess I need to play around with the colors.

            How far can it nest?

          • John Shapiro 3:28 am on October 1, 2009 Permalink

            Anytime!

    • Jason 11:12 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

What about a response to this?

      • John Shapiro 3:28 am on October 1, 2009 Permalink

Why would I want to respond to this?

    • Jason 5:00 pm on October 2, 2009 Permalink

When I reply to this what happens on my other screen?

  • Jake 11:12 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

    Hello from Los Angeles.

    • Jason 11:13 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

Heya. Thanks for giving me a comment. I trust you are out there working and not spending your retirement savings on trying to become an actor?

      Hey Avin

    • Jason 11:30 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

It is supposed to animate a bit more pretty.

    • Jason 5:04 pm on October 2, 2009 Permalink

I am still testing comment functionality. Starting to be a long post huh? Note quite content with the thread spacing, are you?

  • Darren Scully 11:47 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

    Nice on the iPhone…..

    • Jason 11:50 pm on September 30, 2009 Permalink

Never optimized for that even though I own one. Been thinking about getting one of those themes specially made for iPhones so when you hit the site you get a paired down version of the site with just the content.

If I reply to the original post will it look differently… prolly will do an alternating row color.

  • kurko 2:31 am on October 1, 2009 Permalink

    hello

    • kurko 2:33 am on October 1, 2009 Permalink

what is the colour of animation?

    • Jason Test 5:05 pm on October 2, 2009 Permalink

I am still seeing a fade to white before a fade to the background color of the comment… and I can’t find where to adjust that in the setting you have provided. Thoughts?

  • John Shapiro 3:27 am on October 1, 2009 Permalink

I am wondering if this is what you wanted me to do. So I am doing it. Hope you are doing well. I miss our drives back and forth to Thursday lunch.

    • Jason 11:32 am on October 1, 2009 Permalink

Exactly what I was wanting. Just trying to test this commenting approach to see if it works functionally and visually.

  • Kathryn Hill 8:19 am on October 1, 2009 Permalink

Morning Jason! This comment will serve as my contribution to the advancement of technology and society for the day.

    • Jason 2:44 pm on October 1, 2009 Permalink

Thank You Kathryn for the reply. Made me chuckle in a big way!

    I like the purple!

    • Jason 5:07 pm on October 2, 2009 Permalink

I like purple too… but mainly my daughters like it. What if I repeat this over and over and over again to simulate long responses? I like purple too… but mainly my daughters like it. What if I repeat this over and over and over again to simulate long responses?

  • Bernice 10:47 am on October 2, 2009 Permalink

Will 5 replies always be the limit or is that just for the test thread?

    • Jason Test 4:59 pm on October 2, 2009 Permalink

Are you only able to reply five times? I am surprised by that… let me look into it.

I am standing on one leg, with one arm facing East and it seems to be still working. According to my son, who thinks NITRO will be “awesome”, he feels that we should own a gun in case alligators end up in the pool. I explained that this comment thread is for testing only and that alligators in the pool were never meant to be a problem unless you keep frogs in the pool and then of course that would be a problem. Also, this comment thread test is to determine the characters allowed in one post. Ok, my leg is tired and I must go now. Whew! if this was a Verizon app, I would say ” Can you comment now?”!
