We Are Almost Packed

// August 24th, 2007 // 3 Comments » // Community, Personal, Relationships, Travel

5 days and counting until the movers come to load our stuff and we make the five day journey with kids to south Florida. Friends are helping with babysitting while we pack, and we are saying our goodbyes through tears of sadness and joy. People have been so kind to share their love for us in our departing. I am convinced we are night dieing yet, but things will never be the same for sure.
We are almost packed … almost. What is difficult about this move is that everything has to be in boxes. Not like moving across town where you just throw some stuff in the back of the car on the last trip. Everything but the bikes, the appliances, one-off items, and the furniture has to be in boxes. This packing is real work I tell ya. More updates soon as we head in that direction.

I Have a Goatneck

I said in April I am preparing to cycle RAGBRAI 2008, and this weekend is part of that preparation. I am riding one of the top 100 rides in America (according to Bicycling Magazine) with my younger brother. Goatneck had 2,350 riders last year. That makes it one of the largest rides in America, though nothing compared to RAGBRAI.

Word is starting to get out a bit that I have resigned my position with Stonebriar Community Church this week and accepted a position with the 30th largest church in the US. We wanted to let all of you know this as early in the process as possible, but also had some details to work out before I could make things official. I have been away from consistent blogging for awhile so that I could get this life decision made.

Baton Rouge Boudin

My brother-in-law is graduating from Southern Law School this weekend and we drove to Baton Rouge yesterday. Haven’t had any boudin yet, but I may eat some after four or five pounds of crawfish.

RAGBRAI or Bust

Blake has pointed me to Ragamuffin a few times before, but today was the first time I lurked around very long. Viewing Ragamuffins video about a new goal to climb Mt. Whitney (and not just lose weight for the sake of it) reminded me of something I have committed to do but have not yet blogged about.

Four years ago in the summer of 2003 I road RAGBRAI XXXI on my sweet Colnago road bike. Don’t let the nice language on that site fool you:
